I added 24 books to my shelves in June (all my 2022 books are shelved here on Goodreads): It was an amazing month for stars! FIVE 5-star and TEN 4-1/2-star books! In a different month, those ten books certainly could’ve been full … Continue reading Reading Better | June.
Hello friends. Here in the U.S. we’ve had a day … that comes at the end of a week, following more weeks, and months, and … it’s hard. I find myself needing to – celebrate Congress actually passing a bill … Continue reading TGIF | Late June.
I added 23 books to my shelves in May (all my 2022 books are shelved here on Goodreads): Only two were 5-stars – a marked decrease from previous months and maybe the first time I can remember that all my 5-star reads … Continue reading Reading Better | May.
I added 27 books to my shelves in April (all my 2022 books are shelved here on Goodreads). Three were poetry collections and a few more were really short … still 🙂 It was a lot to absorb and it took me … Continue reading Reading Better | April.
I added 17 books to my Read shelf last month (all my 2022 books are shelved here on Goodreads): Five of those were 5-stars; and the rest I Loved, or Loved A LOT. [here’s my Instagram post with quick reviews … Continue reading Reading Better | March.
I finished up the last journal entries for my February finishes (here’s my 2022 shelf on Goodreads) this afternoon and spent a bit of time reflecting. It’s pretty clear that books and reading were my respite settling back into everyday … Continue reading Reading Better | February.
My 2022 reading is off to a great start! I read 19 books last month (shelved here on Goodreads) and was delighted that the “best year of reading” vibe continued from December. I shared quick reviews of those four 5-star books on Instagram (here) and here are a few superlatives for the other 15 (all links are to Goodreads). Book that made me cry in public/Book to read in one sitting – Ghost Forest, by Pik-Shuen Fung. A gorgeous debut novel that reads like a memoir about the immigrant experience (Hong Kong to Canada in 1997) and the death of … Continue reading Reading Better | January.
This is another epic post … and the last one I have looking back at 2021. TL;DR It was probably my best year of reading ever and there isn’t much I’d like to change for 2022. I read 20 books … Continue reading Reading Better | December.
Buckle up – it’s another epic post! If you’re not into the numbers, you might want to scroll down a bit – I have a delightful backlist recommendation and some Thoughts on Reading Long Lists. I added 18 books to my Read shelf last month, bringing my YTD total to 192 (Goodreads link). Here are a few more stats from November’s book journal summary page: one-third (6/18) were audio and the other two-thirds, including my three very-favorites, were paper. nearly two-thirds (11/18) were borrowed, and seven were purchased (five “new”, and two “used”) – pretty consistent with previous months. five … Continue reading Reading Better | November.
I added 19 books to my Read shelf last month, bringing my YTD total to 174 (Goodreads link). Here are a few more stats from October’s book journal summary page: nearly one-third (6/19) were audio – I thought that words on a page were trending up after last months 75%, but October is right in line with August. nearly two-thirds (12/19) were borrowed, two I owned, and five were purchased (four “new”, and one “used”) … which was almost identical to last month! four were non-fiction … more similar to earlier months and I credit the NBA non-fiction short list … Continue reading Reading Better | October.
