Amaryllis Watch 2019 | Week Six.

When I snagged that frozen pond photo for yesterday’s post, I noticed that last year’s amaryllis were way ahead of this year’s. Week six last year I had two stalks well above their copper stakes and one just about there. This year, I have one stalk barely above the stake … and the other two bulbs lagging behind. sigh. I’m wondering if I’ll see any blooms this month?! Also, I noticed that my Looking Back post for December was on January 5 – y’all it’s January 8 and I don’t have plans to even make the collage until this weekend. … Continue reading Amaryllis Watch 2019 | Week Six.

Amaryllis Watch 2019.

Amaryllis Watch 2019 is now in week 3 and there is finally something to see besides a pretty pot and moss … indeed, all three bulbs have sprouted! I’m sure the abundant sunshine – seems like forever since we’ve had TWO days of blue skies in a row! – has helped. It’s most definitely improved my state of mind 🙂 My goal is to have blooms toward the end of January and I think we’re on track. Same as always, I love waterlogue-ing these photos … and this week, it’s all about those two birds. Meanwhile, can you believe Christmas … Continue reading Amaryllis Watch 2019.

Three on Thursday | Hello November.

Hello November! It’s been a while since I said “hello” to a new month from this most comfortable perch at my kitchen counter (and with both feet resting on the rungs of the stool 😉 ). There’s just something about November that makes me glad to be home. I find that when I focus my attention on home, family and friends – I can see light shining in even the darkest places. It gives me hope. It feeds my soul. It gives me courage. and for all of this I am so very grateful. I need – and I’m sure … Continue reading Three on Thursday | Hello November.

Three on Thursday | A Walk in the Park.

I took myself for a quick walk in the park this morning. and since it’s Thursday, I have three photos to share – and with a nod and a wink to Carole, I Waterlogue’d them 😉 The leaves aren’t putting on much of a color show, but they make a most delightful crunch underfoot. No blue skies this morning, but a surprising amount of light still filters through the trees. I am completely smitten with the colors in this last one. In real life the berries are purple, but rendered here in a deep red, combined with all the browns … Continue reading Three on Thursday | A Walk in the Park.

Three on Thursday | Saying Yes.

Wow, I just counted up my time in the boot and this is day 31. I knew it was a lot, but I didn’t think it was a whole month of days. In the big ol’ scheme of my 55+ years, a month is just a drop in the bucket, but it is enough to start a habit. And in the spirit of Three on Thursday, here are three things I’ve said Yes! to in this past month-of-days that I hope to continue: Cottage Cheese. for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pre-boot, this was a “sometimes” thing for me. I’ve always … Continue reading Three on Thursday | Saying Yes.

Amaryllis Watch | Week Seven.

It’s week seven and all three copper stakes are now in use.  I might get to break out the knitting needles after all; each bulb has a second bud! I think blooms are still a ways off, but I’m starting to see a faint hint of red (or is it just my imagination?)   Today’s waterlogue is the Illustration filter. All those wonderful pops of blue are a marked and welcome contrast to the skies outside the window – dull, wet gray. Wishing y’all a wonderful weekend! (Weeks One – Six) Continue reading Amaryllis Watch | Week Seven.
