Last month I shared a list of ten (or eleven? 😉 ) little things that sparked joy. It was a delightful post to write and I loved reading all your joyful replies. In that same spirit of taking a moment to pause, pay attention, and name the delight, here’s my mid-May version: A new Sunday morning running routine (church at 9am means time for a short, early workout … a solo run to the lake and back is perfect). Porch time. Longer days (today’s sunrise was 6:32 am and sunset is 8:33 pm – we are officially past the 14 … Continue reading A Short Joy List.
One of my intentions this year is “more joy”. This morning, I was reflecting on a handful of delightful things that had happened over the last 24 hours … and I was reminded that the simple act of paying attention and naming the delight was an easy way to bring “more joy” into my life. I started a list. At 5:40am I had six things and I decided to challenge myself to come up with (at least) four more to blog about this afternoon. Here goes: I joined the back and the two fronts on Long Love and the pattern … Continue reading Finding Joy in the Little Things.
Is anyone else amazed that September is nearly half over? yikes! It still feels very much like summer here, but there are early signs of a new season. The cherry trees are nearly bare of leaves, the grasses are turning, and the days are noticeably shorter. I’d been in a real funk on Thursday (empty house, nothing to look forward to … seemingly ever again 😉 ?!) and was surprised how just the simple act of reaching out to a tennis pro to schedule a lesson – have something to look forward to – changed my outlook. Saturday morning I … Continue reading Back to Basics.
Thank you for all your kind and understanding comments on my last post. I spent the weekend on a much-needed break from most of the internet and felt ready to engage – at least a bit! – in things again this morning. For the first week in a LONG time, I have lots of empty space on my calendar and a few projects that will require me to dig in and get something done. It feels sort of ‘on brand’ for me, and I can’t even tell you how good that feels. One of the things I was looking forward … Continue reading Small Good Stuff.
Happy Friday, friends. I hope you’re finding some Good Things to celebrate this week … here are five of mine. Thing One. The Polar Coat. It’s finished. It fits. It’s warm. I’ve worn it lots. and I LOVE it. Lydia took some photos when we met up for coffee last Friday. This might be my favorite indoor FO backdrop ever – the lobby of a nearby hotel and yes, that is a horse, coming through a wall of grass. The pockets are one of my favorite things about this sweater (well, aside from all those things I said already). I am … Continue reading Five on Friday | Good Things.
…start with a list. and a third cup of coffee! Here’s to a good week, my friends! Continue reading Sometimes Mondays.
Joining in with Carole and Kat for Think Write Thursday, who wrote “This week we are asking you to share 3 things on your To Do List with all of us.” Ok, then – I love a list! Here’s what’s top … Continue reading Think Write Thursday | Top of Mind.
Yep, I’ve got nothing today but a little extra time and a cute photo of my dog. I left my comfy perch at the kitchen counter for just a minute and when I came back, Holly wasn’t in her bed. … Continue reading Totally Random.
My weekend looked a lot like this which was wonderful (Saturday afternoon, my mom, sister and I met for lunch at a great new place downtown that specializes in football food and fun). And then I stayed up way past my bedtime last night … to finally finish rewatching season one of Gilmore Girls (21?!?!!! episodes – my how TV has changed…). yeah, there’s no way I’m going to finish rewatching the entire seven seasons before Friday. at this point, I’m simply gonna skip to season seven and hope for the best. And I set the knitting aside around episode … Continue reading Hello Monday.
…Holly isn’t herself. She’s not eating and she’s a bit lethargic. PSA – do not think about googling these symptoms unless you plan to pour a glass of wine, remove yourself and your dog to the porch…to knit. I’ll be … Continue reading Ten on Tuesday | Totally Random.
