TGIF | Hello November.

Hello friends. Hello Friday. and Hello November! Again, it’s been a minute … and 30 days since Lucy came home with me. We are still settling in and practicing being present. most days that feels like plenty. but November! I need to re-engage … even just a little.

Thinking about … birthday and holiday plans! One of my favorite people celebrates a birthday today and we’re planning a two-of-us (Lucy makes three) dinner and sleepover after Thanksgiving.

Sara’s first birthday (30 years ago!)

We also have a family celebration for all the #bermonths birthdays (Charlie, Marc, Sam, Rob, Sara, and me) and a girls-only celebration for my 60th (!!!), plus Thanksgiving. Menu plans are flying – and I’m sure Ina’s new cookbook will feature in at least a few dishes.

Grateful for … how different in a very good way this November feels. Our family is together (no quarantine. no airports!) and we’re all healthy.

Inspired by … a bit of test knitting!! I was delighted to be selected to test Ankestrick’s new NAiMA Pullover DK (Ravelry link) and even more delighted to feel like I could! Knitting with Lucy is still a challenge, and that’s a very effective way to be sure I don’t overdo. This is a week’s progress at a worsted gauge. I do need to pick up the pace a bit (the finished project is due before Thanksgiving), and it feels like that’s possible.

Fun … I’m having a ball with Lucy. She’s 12 weeks old and almost as big as Holly was. She’s brave, curious, and utterly charming. She’s not very patient with photos. so it’s a good thing I’m persistent.

What are you T-G-I-F’ing about this month?

Have a great weekend and I’ll see you back here next week … I have a bit of catching up to do!

  1. What a great month for you! I think I’m also G that we’ll be having a big, big Thanksgiving for the first time since 2019. A full house is a fun house!

  2. Lucy keeps you busy but I’m glad to hear that you’re doing a test knit and things are good. I like that photo of Lucy and her stick!

  3. Every puppy needs a stick and Lucy looks great with hers. The bright flowers are beautiful. I am happy that your life is so full this November. Slowly but surely it feels like we are crawling out of the Covid tunnel.

  4. Wow- a month already with Lucy?! Can’t wait to see this test knit finished and love the color. Am taking full advantage of this great weather to be outside as much as possible, and looking forward to having Andrew here for Thanksgiving. Now if we could just win next Saturday 🙂

  5. Time can easily be all about Lucy, but so nice to hear you have time for yourself, too. You are going to have quiet the fun month!

  6. I’m so glad to hear that things are settling with Lucy (who continues to be as adorable as all get-out) and that you’re able to do some knitting! Having her around and still rather needy is probably a good way to make sure you don’t overdo it with the knitting, too.

I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and also the arrival of my second nephew shortly before it, unless he decides to come earlier!

  7. Lucy is growing fast…but her stick is still bigger than she is! Love the color for your new test knit and what a very pretty pattern. Sounds like November will be an awesome month! We are looking forward to C&M being up for 3 weeks at Thanksgiving!! And, then we will go to TX for Christmas. It’s all happening quickly!!

  8. Sounds like a really fun (and busy) month! Happy Birthday to all. Wish I were there to share a glass of wine with you for your birthday, but will drink one here in your honor. Lucy – OMG! Could she be cuter?

  9. Such a sweet (and busy!) girl! And I have to say, your smile smile is a showstopper, Mary. Seriously. Every time I see it, the light of your smile–well, it’s contagious. Here’s to you!
