Present | July 2022.

Be satisfied with being present.

This is the better part.

Being fully present can’t be taken from you.

You are yours to give.

Unfolding Light, Steve Garnass-Holmes, July 21, 2022

I love how those sparks of inspiration happen. moments when a lightbulb flashes. or you’re talking to someone and boom-boom-boom things click.

I felt a connection when I read those words last Thursday, and then I heard them on Friday when a friend read them for prayer group (here’s the whole meditation – it’s lovely!)

Charlie and Sam are here two days this week (yesterday and tomorrow). I shared photos from yesterday with Katie last night and my Photos app shared a few memories with me …

whoa. that photo on the left launched my 2015 journey with PRESENT.

and yesterday reminded me – yet again! – why I chose this word. and why simply BEING HERE matters.

Only when we are fully present can we make memories.

full stop.

Thank you to Carolyn for sparking this trip down memory lane. and to all of you for following along with me.

  1. This post is so very true. Present – is all we have and what we have to give to those around us. Those boys are lucky to have you.

  2. It’s best to be present . . . especially when it comes to quickly growing boys! It’s always fun when you share glimpses of them. They are growing up so fast!

  3. It’s amazing how much of a difference a few years can make when it comes to kids growing up — and they go way too quickly. You’re absolutely right: We need to be fully present when it comes to children (and grandchildren!) to really appreciate our time with them.

  4. Kids and grandkids grow up way too quickly and it’s especially important to stay present. I wish I had been more present for my boys but sadly we don’t get a do-over.

  5. Hard to believe how much they have grown. Being present with each other is a true gift.

  6. I think kids show us how to be present in so many ways. I’m glad that you are getting extra Sam and Charlie time.

  7. Being present is so important…and at times…so difficult. Gosh those boys are growing FAST!!! Love seeing all the pictures.

  8. “Only when we are fully present can we make memories.” …Such wise words! A real takeaway from your 2022 Present, I’d say.

  9. I bet you are having the time of your life and that you are exhausted as well. I just spent five days with our grandson and I’m sorely lacking rest.
