Year in Review | 2020.

Once again, I’m borrowing Vicki’s idea (Thank you, Vicki!) for an end of year post. The idea is to share the first line (or two) of the first blog post of each month and a favorite photo from that month’s posts. The words and photos are most likely not related.

January
I am easing gently into this new year … slowly wrapping my head around the “twenties” being something right now instead of the “roaring twenties” of my grandparents’ generation and thankful the calendar isn’t quite ramped up to full speed – that happens next week and I think I’ll be ready!

February
Sometimes Mondays can’t help but make you smile. Holly is back to regular morning walks beyond our little neighborhood.

March
Is it really Thursday? evening? my calendar says yes, and thankfully so does my to-do list … and yet in my head (and looking back on these photos, my heart) … well, the week is surely just beginning!

April
It feels good to pause today to write about knitting and reading.

May
It’s hard to believe we have a full-month of SAH behind us. and (at least) another month ahead. [hah! December 2020 me reads that second bit and laughs out loud … in hindsight, maybe it was a good thing we had no idea what we were in for.]

June
I finally had time on Friday morning to get my thoughts together around this new month, well somewhat at least.

July
I did a double-take on the calendar … yes, it really has been SEVEN weeks since we started Camp.

August
Way back in November I wrote a post about six things I was going to be working on this year.

September
Wow, August kind of kicked me in the backside. and again, I’m really grateful for this daily photo habit because otherwise I’d be looking back at a fog of days that ran together spent mostly at home and lonely, combined with seemingly endless heat and humidity (broken by violent thunderstorms that put a shaking Holly into my lap on many evenings), and nights that brought little rest and strange dreams.

October
Our two-week quarantine following Sara’s visit ended last Friday and we celebrated on Saturday.

November
Much has happened in the almost-week since my last post … all of it unplanned.

December
I love sharing a look ahead in the first TGIF post of a new month and I had this one planned out in my head all day. then things went a little sideways and I didn’t get to it.

This post is one of my favorite ways to look back at the whole year (especially because I don’t have to come up with any new content 😉 ) Tomorrow I plan to be back with one more retrospective on reading and knitting … if I can get Goodreads and Ravelry up-to-date!

  2. This is a lovely look back at a year that was less than lovely in so many ways: Sara smiling, adorable photos of the boys, a wedding, and now George. Wishing you, Marc, and the rest of your family all the best in 2021!

  5. I think the photos alone really capture so much of the year — the masks, the knitting, time with family, signs of hope. And a puppy and a kitten, of course!

  7. I do love that final photo :). And a really representative selection of much that is important to you. I didn’t remember the photo of the light sabres – really liked that action shot!

  8. I wasn’t sure what I’d find when I went “looking back.” Thankfully, lots of good stuff! Just like you. That’s not to say that I’m not thrilled that tomorrow is the last day of this mostly wretched year! Ha.
