Unraveled Wednesday | Same Old.

Hello friends and happy Wednesday. Thankfully without any unraveling … although maybe not much forward progress either?! In spite of all the time I’ve had to knit, crochet, and read, I still have the same WIPs as last week (oh boy, I hope to have something different to share next week!) For knitting, it’s been all Newleaf all the time.I have had a very fun time knitting the yoke. The last bit of colorwork is on that last row (how do folks get those awesome circular WIP shots?!). I’ve since worked a few short rows and am now ready to … Continue reading Unraveled Wednesday | Same Old.

And | April 2020.

Around here, the magnolia trees are full of buds … the sky is a brilliant blue, with just a scattering of pure white clouds, and the sun is warm. Around here, the number of confirmed cases in our county is edging closer to 3,000 and the number of deaths just passed 100. Around here there is the beautiful renewal of spring and the promise of summer, and the ever-present shadow of a virus that threatens lives and livelihoods, and kills. We are living in a state of paradox. A few weeks back, I saw this graphic on Instagram and it … Continue reading And | April 2020.

FO Friday | A Whole Outfit!

Woohoo, friends, we’ve made it to weekend SEVEN! and on this sixth Friday staying at home, I have not one, but two finished projects to share. Marc, bless his heart, is trying on the photo front. I do love that these photos show the sweater and the skirt to full advantage. and that he managed to capture me eyes open for a few shots. For sure my eyes were open in those where my back is turned 😉 The sweater is my second Notice (on Ravelry here) – I knit it exactly like the first one. The row gauge on … Continue reading FO Friday | A Whole Outfit!

Three on Thursday | In-Process.

Hello friends. We are still safe, well, and staying home. I reassured Sara on Monday night that we were not planning to head out tomorrow for tattoos and massages, followed by a few rounds(? lanes? games?) of bowling. Honestly, Marc and I (and thankfully my family and friends) aren’t planning any changes to our Stay at Home routine … in spite of our governor’s plan to re-open things. Still, the reality of that craziness, combined with a delightfully full schedule of FaceTime and Zoom calls, long walks with Marc, short walks with Holly, regular stuff-around-the-house, audiobooks, knitting, sewing, crochet! … … Continue reading Three on Thursday | In-Process.

It hardly seems possible that we are heading into our sixth weekend of Staying at Home. Part of me resists the endless repeat of posts with the same titles – Weekending/Sometimes Mondays, Unraveled Wednesday, Three on Thursday, TGIF/Five on Friday, Looking Back – and part of me welcomes the markers of time moving forward. a day, a week, a month at a time. Right now, the welcoming part is winning! Thinking about … what Marc and I are going to “rebuild”. Before Marc and I take our morning walks, Holly and I take a little pre-walk. This morning, I used … Continue reading TGIF.

Three on Thursday | In Progress.

Today was the first day in two weeks that I didn’t have a single “commitment”. no Zoom or FaceTime. no pressing to-do list items. just me and a whole open (free?) column on my calendar. Pre-SAH, I typically had 2-3 days like this each month … and I’d usually spend them “at home”. maybe I’d take a long walk in the park with Lauren, but more likely, I’d dive into a project (Kon Mari-ing with Marc on Feb 11, or photographing a bunch of clothes for StyleBook on Feb 18). Here are three things I dove into today: Thing One. … Continue reading Three on Thursday | In Progress.

Looking Back | March.

Back in January (which seems like saying “Years Ago”), I started a more robust Looking Back practice. In February (just “Months Ago”) I tweaked the format a bit and was feeling pretty pleased with where I’d landed. And then … the pandemic hit home. The day after I shared that February post, on March 12, we started social distancing, and now we’ve been officially Staying Home for weeks. I have been keeping up with my daily photos, but I was struggling to put the words together. Then I saw Kat and Carole share theirs, full of honest reflection; and their … Continue reading Looking Back | March.

Hello friends! It’s time to mark the beginning of another weekend, our fifth one of Staying at Home. Today I did three things that weren’t on my Three Things list. First, I swapped out the winter decorations (glittered pinecones, sugared fruit, red potpourri, dark throw pillows) for spring (eggs, a bird’s nest, different candles, lighter pillows). Then I helped Marc setup the screened porch (bless him, he cleaned it all by himself – even scrubbing the floor!). and finally, I visited the Post Office to mail the masks I sewed yesterday for Katie’s family. Those first two things really helped … Continue reading TGIF.

Unraveled Wednesday | All the Things.

It’s Wednesday and that means I have an update on the making and the reading, and much gratitude to Kat for hosting this meet-up. On the making front, I have been doing all the things (well, all the things that I know how to do). First, knitting (by far my favorite and for sure my comfort zone). I finished my first Notice (this is a snagged shot from a video Marc took for a church thing) – I am delighted with the fit. which is good because I cast on for another one … this time in pink. (I also … Continue reading Unraveled Wednesday | All the Things.

Announcing a New Book Bingo!

Hello friends and welcome to a seventh season of Book Bingo. Everything in the world is topsy turvy right now anyway, so I decided (with much encouragement from my sister) that we didn’t need to wait until Memorial Day to kick off this year’s bingo. Welcome to Shelter at Home Bingo. You can generate your card here and refresh yourself about all the “rules” here. (and note there’s a page with all of that linked in the top menu bar on the blog.) In a nutshell, the only big change is that we’re starting on April 1 (the date my … Continue reading Announcing a New Book Bingo!
