Scenes from my week – all good! except for this morning, when this happened. Needless to say that was not at all what I’d planned and I haven’t had time to fix that – or pull together anything else for the blog. Ha! I guess it’s as good as anything to share for Unraveled Wednesday! We have our sixth!! annual neighborhood gathering this evening 🙂 Wishing you and yours a safe and fun Halloween! (i.e. no unraveling!) Continue reading Unraveled Wednesday.
…are a table full of friends and yarn, lively conversation, a little laughter and an almost finished sweater. ♥ also a full heart. Wishing each of you a warm hug and good week. xxoo. Continue reading Sometimes Mondays.
Is it just me, or did this week fly by? Seems like I was just telling y’all about our birthday weekend … and now another weekend is upon us. But first… Thinking about joining NaKniSweMo. yes. really. (for my non-knitting readers, this is the knitting corollary to NaNoWriMo and participants knit a 50,000 stitch sweater in the month of November.) I decided a few weeks back that I would not be repeating NaBloPoMo (sharing a blog post every day in November), but as I’m trying to jump-start the sweater knitting season, I think the challenge and the KAL might be fun. … Continue reading TGIF.
I took myself for a quick walk in the park this morning. and since it’s Thursday, I have three photos to share – and with a nod and a wink to Carole, I Waterlogue’d them 😉 The leaves aren’t putting on much of a color show, but they make a most delightful crunch underfoot. No blue skies this morning, but a surprising amount of light still filters through the trees. I am completely smitten with the colors in this last one. In real life the berries are purple, but rendered here in a deep red, combined with all the browns … Continue reading Three on Thursday | A Walk in the Park.
It’s Wednesday … and that means I’m joining in with Kat and crew for a quick update on what I’m making and reading. This was the scene at my kitchen counter just before I pulled out my laptop to write this post. I wasn’t kidding about the crocheting and I’ll bet you’d also be surprised to know that the big ball of yarn is Red Heart. It’s called Bunches of Hugs and it seems perfect for a prayer shawl! Then there’s the beginning of a sock with a ball of yarn I bought in Linz, Austria. This yarn is labeled DK … Continue reading Unraveled Wednesday.
It’s been way too long since I’ve written a Currents post, but this key (a most-happy surprise from Juliann) has me thinking about all the things I’ve been Saying Yes to lately … and I thought it might be good to write them down: Daily pilates. That Back to the Mat challenge was exactly what I needed to get myself back into a solid daily routine. That routine went out the window over the summer and just when I could’ve started back, I went to Europe for two weeks. I still haven’t regained my roll-up, but I can do a plank … Continue reading Currents | October.
Saturday’s birthday celebrations were fun, delicious and most photo-worthy! It’s nice on a Monday morning to have a blog post practically write itself as soon as I have the photos edited and uploaded 🙂 Katie did a wonderful job with the New York City theme and the food. The boys donned their costumes just before the guests arrived. No, it wasn’t a costume party, but pirates and spidermen have more fun. There were cupcakes and candleswith a very willing older brother to help. And then presents. Sam has two new “things to wear” (I wonder how long it will take … Continue reading Birthday Weekending.
Hello friends and happy Friday! Thinking about Advent. what to read – my small group is considering Advent in Narnia (and ooh, I’d love a good excuse to re-read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) and I think I’m going to read this one on my own. and maybe join in Ambah O’Brien’s Advent-along. I haven’t done a knit-every-day kind of project before but this one looks like fun. especially if I could find some friends to join me! Grateful for all the community in my life – on social media and in real life. Chapter Six of Braving the … Continue reading TGIF.
I was up past my usual bed-time last night … sitting at the kitchen counter … and I took this photo to remember these three things: I ripped and re-started the socks. twice. The yarn said it was “dk” (so socks on size 3 dpn’s), but it feels a lot more like worsted (socks on size 4’s) … and really needs size 5’s (which is what the Churchmouse pattern suggests and gah, why didn’t I just start there?!) I found a delightful Grüner Veltliner (my new favorite white wine thanks to our Danube cruise) at Trader Joe’s. For just $5.99 … Continue reading Three on Thursday | The Rest of the Story.
For the first time in months, I joined my “Starbucks Knitting Group” this afternoon. It was wonderful to catch up in person over lattés and chai tea. They started a Mosaic-along last month (whew, no FOMO for that one since I finished up Sam’s just about a year ago). That’s me knitting a sock in the foreground. And Becca is sitting opposite me – with two knitting projects (Mosaic and Soutache – a little FOMO about that one) and yards of fabric destined to become smocks for her and another friend. The smock pattern was designed by Ellen Mason, a brand … Continue reading Unraveled Wednesday.
