…mark the beginning of a new adventure! We leave this evening for Vienna (by way of Amsterdam), arriving early tomorrow afternoon. Our cruise begins Thursday afternoon, so we have two days to explore Vienna on our own. The only definite (besides pastries) plan is Wednesday afternoon when we’re going to tour Schönbrunn Palace. Looking forward to this adventure … and sharing it with y’all! Have a great week! Continue reading Sometimes Mondays.
Thinking about how I’m going to document our trip – both while we’re traveling and once we’re back home. This post is coming to you from the WordPress app on my iPad. so far so good. and there’s Instagram. and 1SE videos. and maybe a photo book. Grateful for getting back to the lake! Marc and I walked there and back yesterday morning (3.5 miles – by far my longest walk in months). I’ve driven by that spot many times since June, but seeing it from the sidewalk was different. and wonderful. Inspired by an even chillier forecast for Vienna … Continue reading TGIF.
Yesterday’s Soyokaze finish was the last “official make” I’d planned for our trip. Doesn’t it look great with the tote?of course you do have to imagine it on me … with no pin holding it in place. and for sure a top. and pants. The tote was a lot of fun to make (even the cutting wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be) and the lining fabric – a Rifle Paper Co print on canvas (purchased at my “local” fabric store – sadly, the shop is a 45 minute drive in good traffic, but still…) – makes me smile … Continue reading Three on Thursday | Making for Europe.
Joining in with Kat and friends today to talk about knitting and books. I do love these weekly check-ins. The opportunity to report on progress has spurred many a project to some sort of milestone or completion. And if there’s literal unraveling, the opportunity for commiseration within a like-minded community is hard to beat. Up until about two hours ago, I wasn’t sure which path my story would follow today. Shortly after I snapped Monday’s photo of that first Soyokaze sleeve about 1/4 done, I realized I was likely to run out of yarn. I’m not sure what happened; I … Continue reading Unraveled Wednesday.
This poem, by Philip Britts (described as a British Wendell Berry), landed in my inbox yesterday morning (thanks to Plough Publishing. I do love their daily emails). It’s a beautifully worded reminder to really live this life. not just the lovely and fun parts, but also the messy, ugly and painful parts. grounded. with my heart in the sky. I hope you enjoy it, too. Happy Tuesday! Let there be not only the roses, Not only the buds of the day, But the noon and the hour that discloses The full flower torn away: Not only the bliss and the … Continue reading My Heart in the Sky.
…send you around in circles! And this time, they’re most welcome – yep, I finally made it to the sleeves of Soyokaze 🙂 Hope your Monday brought something welcome, too. Here’s to a good week! Continue reading Sometimes Mondays.
Happy Friday, my friends! seems like a perfect morning for a little TGIF. Thinking about everything I need to accomplish next week. I usually make up my to-do lists on Monday morning (because #retired), but this one is longer – and more important! – than usual. Grateful for healing. I had my third PT appointment on Wednesday and was cleared to resume all my activities (except for running, but I don’t have plans to resume that anyway), with caution. To celebrate, Lauren and I walked three miles in the park yesterday morning. It was wonderful! Inspired by the Vienna weather … Continue reading TGIF.
Joining in with Carole and friends today to share three fun things.Thing One. Snagged from a recent FaceTime with our favorite almost-two-year-old. “Watch” he tells Poppa. Also, that’s a Batman cape around his shoulders. Chainsaws are for superhero pirates. Thing Two. My mom and I spent yesterday afternoon making lists and updating our Google map to include bakeries (Lebkuchen in Nuremberg and pastries in Vienna). I also downloaded Rick Steves’ Travel app. Super impressed with the content and usability. also free! Thing Three. This photo was taken four years ago. Yes, today is Charlie’s 4th birthday! I have the … Continue reading Three on Thursday | Fun Things.
This is from Monday afternoon. I’m still knitting the body of Soyokaze … and since that’s not very interesting, I thought I’d share what the rest of my knitting group are knitting. Heading around the table (starting to my left): Ethel started the second sleeve of Getty. That purple Shibui Twig + Cima is just as stunning in person! Kathy is knitting Cepa in Kidsilk Haze. …oh my! Pat (at the opposite end) just finished the ribbing on a hat. I didn’t note the pattern, but the yarn is Madelinetosh Vintage in a really yummy blue green colorway. Sarah (hands … Continue reading Unraveled Wednesday.
Apparently, August 2018 will go down in my history as the month of feet – they show up a whoppin’ eight times! and along with a good amount of knitting, sewing and reading, a few cocktails, multiple visits with the little boys and two milestone birthday celebrations, I also have a multitude of happy memories. I realized there are also a couple of finished projects that never made their way here (it always amazes me how I can blog nearly every weekday and forget to share some things 🙂 ). Here you go! First, this year’s Through the Loops Mystery … Continue reading Looking Back | August.
