Weekending with Sara.

…sigh…the kitchen counter seems so empty now that it’s just me and one laptop. For most of the weekend, it was dueling MacBooks and today it was that plus Sara’s work computer. Busy fingers tapping across keyboards….

Sara arrived just in time for Friday night snacks.

Saturday, she and I had lunch with my mom,

and made a quick trip to Costco for mussels and wine before coming home to Queer Eye (this relaunch of the series is excellent – and I love seeing Atlanta in all the external shots) and snuggling with Holly.

Marc cooked the mussels for dinner and we had a delicious meal … with basketball (and no photos)!

Sunday did not go as planned. My left eye was swollen shut when I woke up. Marc and Katie agreed it looked like pink eye (?!?!) and Sara drove me to urgent care. Yep, pink eye. I have two kinds of drops and my eyes are looking better, but still swollen. I missed Confirmation Sunday, and Sara and I missed the wine tasting and seeing the boys. We did enjoy a nice bottle of Shiraz with the rest of Queer Eye

and Katie was good about FaceTiming with the boys in the tub.

Not quite the same as being with them in person, but definitely a lot healthier for them! And I know it wasn’t the weekend Sara had in mine, but I couldn’t imagine a better buddy for laying low. There are definitely worse ways to spend some forced downtime!

Here’s to a new week … and a healthy one!

  1. Oh, man. First the stomach flu . . . and now pink eye? Ugh. Those are dreaded scourges for sure! I'm so glad you had a good time with Sara despite the eye thing. How wonderful that you could spend a weekend together! (And I can imagine how lonely your kitchen counter must feel today.) XO

  2. Sorry about the pink eye and the way it derailed your plans. Sounds like you all still made the most of it, though. And your Friday Night Snacks look fabulous!

  3. It was nice you had a weekend with Sara, in spite of the pink eye. I hope the drops bring you some relief and that you are better soon.

  4. Pink eye is just awful! Sorry you got it and some plans spoiled. Looks like it was a good weekend despite (or until) that. Hoping the drops work fast.

  5. I am sorry you missed out thanks to the dreaded (and highly contagious) pink-eye. I am glad Sara was there to lay low with you! And, thank goodness for the miracle of FaceTime! XO

  6. Ugh…I am so sorry. Pink eye loves me but thank goodness it's been quite a few years! Nice to have some down time with Sara though. I'll have to check out QE as I did like the original. Glad you're on the mend!

  7. Sorry about your eye and hope it is on the way to being better! But as you say, you had some great company to spend time with (both in person and through FaceTime).

  8. I am sorry for the pink eye, but I'm guessing that a weekend with pink eye and Sara is better than a weekend with pink eye without Sara. I'm glad you could still see well enough to knit and facetime with your adorable boys. I'm sending hugs and commiseration for the empty kitchen counter loneliness; I know that feeling well and hope Sara is back soon!

  9. so so so sorry you have pink eye! awful! but I'm glad you have Sara and that Holly is the sweetest little gal ever 🙂

  10. I'm hoping/guessing by now the eye is much better. We certainly missed you at the wine tasting-at least we have some wine drinking in just a couple more weeks.
