Three on Thursday | Spring Cardigans.

even the colors look like Spring!

I wove in the ends on that last winter sweater* last night … and I am ready to knit for Spring! I have yarn (above) for these three Spring cardigans

 clockwise from left – Quick Sand, Quintessential Cardigan, Balise Cardigan
and I’ve even swatched for two of them.
1. The purple linen will be another Quick Sand. I knit a few rows on 9’s and like the fabric, but the stitches are little smaller than the pattern suggests. I’ll knit the next size up to compensate.
2. The green cotton/silk blend will be another Quintessential Cardigan. The yarn is from my mother-in-law’s stash and I know she’d approve of this choice (especially if I can find green/navy buttons to match!). The ball band gauge/needle matches the pattern exactly. So I’m going to knit a sleeve-as-swatch and fingers crossed it works!
3. The gray and pink Coast is for the Balise Cardigan (which was part of my original MakeNine). I knit an actual swatch for this – on size 2’s and 2.5’s and the 2.5’s won. A few of the girls in my Monday knitting group are knitting this, too. Hopefully we’ll have a group WIP photo to share soon.
This is a lot of stockinette; thank goodness the patterns and yarn (and needles – 2.5, 5, 9) will add some variety. But just in case I get bored, I wound the yarn for Joji’s Suburban Wrap.

  1. I always think I need flowers to feel like spring is here, but three spring cardigans and the perfect yarns for them will also do it! Each one of them is perfect in its own way, and I'm really looking forward to seeing these as you knit (almost as much as I'm looking forward to flowers)!

  2. I still have a scarf on the needles, and a MKAL set to begin tomorrow — but have been plagued by tennis elbow or something like that, so haven't been knitting much (or making more plans).

  7. I lied.Backing fabric is on the way for a "quick" quilt project for the new baby (who isn't here yet!). And I just ordered some cotton rope for some macrame! I've been inspired, I have some projects in mind, and I don't have to *learn* how to do it because I've known how since high school!

  8. I like the “Quick Sand” and noted it already on my Ravelry notes. Though I have several projects going, I really need a spring sweater. We can’t think of it yet but those days of air-conditioning is coming! (No, no, not yet say you? Spring hasn’t come! Ya, 24 degrees yesterday morning here in TN.) You must knit fairly/very fast!!

  12. You may have sent additional seaming juju my way with the inclusion of Quick Sand…I know I can do that and get it done in a reasonable time! Each of those sweaters is going to be wonderful spring / summer wears for you Mary!

  13. I love your spring knitting choices! And yes, you have chosen some lovely spring colored yarns (that green looks especially springlike)! I would be happy just to finish the two shawls I have started, but in the meantime, I'm going to enjoy watching your progress on these lovely projects. : )

  14. beautiful picks! I don't usually knit for spring, at least in the last couple of years, I tend to knit shawls or socks. I cannot wait so see these knit up and maybe I'll change my mind and do what you are doing.

  16. Hmmm… I have a sweater quantity's worth of Maggi's Linen that I've had forever. Maybe I'll take a look at that pattern…
