Three on Thursday | December Love.

December and I have a … complicated relationship. Mostly my fault because of The Holidays and unrealistic expectations. but a little bit December’s because dark and cold (and yikes, y’all, I live in Georgia!) Yet this year, I find myself feeling lighter (in the spiritual sense … it’s 4 o’clock and getting dark outside) and maybe (finally?!) ready to embrace the wonder and grace that December offers.

inspiration for my new blog banner/theme … winter 2017!
And since it’s Three on Thursday, here are three things I’m loving about December right now:
1. twinkle lights on the trees. I have three trees in the house and the “big tree” featured in the photo above has LED lights. whoa. (I predict you’re going to see a lot more of those lights this month!)
2. a nicely (but not crazy) full calendar. during the week I get to walk, knit and meet up with friends and a few of the weekend days are filled with concerts, church programs and family get-togethers.
3. thinking about 2018. taking it slow. no pressure. being open to possibilities.
Thank you to Carole for hosting us!

  1. And maybe some snow for you! Saw that the GATech campus will be closed tomorrow in anticipation. We haven’t had even a flake yet and no Christmas decorations yet…Yours are beautiful!

  2. That's a great list. We could all benefit from lower expectation. Twinkle lights make my December so much better! I love their sparkling light. It's been too warm here and we have NO snow in the mountains, plus the "dreaded inversion" is coming.

  3. Those lights are indeed lovely! I've had to lower my expectations because of a crazy work project that is keeping me far too busy to find time for much else, but that's okay. I do have some gifts to wrap and cookie dough made and ready to bake. There are too many work parties to attend; it would really be great if I could knit at the parties without feeling rude! I hope you enjoy the season with realistic hopes and lots of lights!

  4. I'm much happier in December now that I've done some serious re-thinking about my own expectations. I'm so glad you're feeling lighter this year! (December can be awfully heavy.) Keep those lights on, Mary! XO

  5. I am trying so very hard to "keep it light" this year — there have been so very many distractions of late, that I'm actually forced to! So far, so good, and the biggest project/distraction is winding down… yahoo!

  6. Well, December so far, as you well know, hasn't been at all anything I'd imagined…but the grand news: it's upward bound! And I guess that's all anyone can hope for. I find focusing on the moment and relishing each has helped tremendously during these stress filled times – made ever so easier to endure by friends like you! Twinkle lights look like funlLove your new blog banner!Cheers~

  7. My 2 teeny trees are still undecorated-need to get on that and find some battery operated lights or else no twinkles lights this year. I too am hoping for a slow 2018.
