Lest my Wednesday posts leave you with the idea that all I’ve been doing is knitting Sam’s birthday blanket, today I thought I’d share three things I’ve done besides the blanket.
Thing one. I finished The Book of Joy. oh my, y’all. I cried. I know my review on Goodreads (when I get around to it) will not begin to convey how much this book – and the small group discussions – have meant to me. I’ve underlined and highlighted so many things, which makes the Friday morning discussions easier, but sharing here … well, how about this:
…we cannot pursue joy as an end in itself, or we will miss the bus. Joy comes, rather, from daily thoughts, feelings and actions. And they had told us repeatedly the action that gets us on the bus: bringing joy to others.
Thing two. Lauren and I met at the park this afternoon for a nice, long walk. We are usually meet up in the mornings, so it was a real treat to be wide awake, enjoy full on sunshine (and not be hot).
Thing three. I gathered the materials for my next project. Note that I did not swatch. I’m not letting my knitting needles touch another project until Sam’s blanket is off the needles … tomorrow, I hope!
and then I wrote this blog post 😉.
Joining in with Carole and Kat today for all sorts of Threes. Look forward to seeing what you’ve shared!
I'm looking forward to reading that book even more now that I've read your review!
I was recently considering that book on Audible… and now I think I'll be looking at it again!!I hope you're swatching today!
I am adding that book to my read list! Thank you! And, a new sweater! Yay!
You find the best patterns. The book sounds lovely.
Hoping tomorrow (TODAY, Fri 20 Oct) ends with Sam's sweater finished! Looking fwd to your new project. I thought about reading the audible version of Book of Joy but I may change my mind and do both!..Cheers~
I see that not swatching is in the air…..I am doing the same thing 🙂
I keep checking that book out on Overdrive . . . and then not getting a chance to actually read it before it disappears! (Luckily, there never seems to be a wait. Hopefully my timing and the book's availability will match up perfectly.) XO
The Book of Joy was one of my most favorite reads this year. So much that I have recommended it for my small group study – probably to start the new year. I also listened to Brene Brown's Braving the Wilderness on Audible; but, promptly ordered the hardback because I knew there were so many things I wanted to underline, note, and save. And, finally, if you are not opposed to reading young adult books, I Will Always Write Back packs a powerful punch. I can't get it, and them, out of my mind. It touched my soul.
