Well hi there, it’s been a while!

If you follow me on Instagram, you know we arrived safely last Monday and have since made Sara’s apartment into a home.

We’ve also had time to explore – a play on Thursday, local restaurants, the 9/11 memorial and Central Park.

Her neighborhood on the Upper East Side is great – lots to do, family friendly (the mama part of me feels like she’s safe) and easy access to the rest of the city thanks to the brand new 2nd Avenue subway (which will – hopefully – be the site of an FO photo shoot later this morning).

Sara has a good friend here (about ten blocks away) and two more friends visited for the weekend. It feels like she’s in a place (and the mama part of me feels especially good about that!)

We had one more lunch out yesterday and I got to see the friend’s apartment and meet her dog.

Today Sara and I are taking the train to New Haven. My mother-in-law passed away on Saturday and the funeral is there tomorrow. The whole family (including the two great grandsons) is coming; it’s going to be a wonderful celebration of her life and legacy. I won’t be home until Sunday, and don’t expect to be back here until next week. I do hope to share bits and pieces on Instagram before then.

These photos are wonderful and Sara looks happy and well settled which (hopefully) will make it easier for you to leave her in NYC. I'm sorry to hear about your mother-in-law but I hope that your gathering in CT (SO CLOSE and yet SO FAR from me!) will be a joyful time of memories.
I'm very sorry to hear about your mother-in-law and send my sincere sympathy to Marc, you, and the rest of your family. I am glad to see that you and Sara have made such quick work of settling in and you feel good about her new home. Taking the train to CT sounds like a NY thing to do!
I am saddened by the loss of your mother-in-law, and my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. But, I am glad you have settled Sara and that you have had some time to enjoy the city!

So sorry to hear about your mother in law, but how wonderful for the whole family to be together to celebrate her life. Sarah looks like she's enjoying New York already. If she's back in the city on Sunday, my son Topher is playing at The Bitter End at 147 Bleecker Street at 8pm. The cover is $5 and there will be lots of people her age. It's an auditioned open mike night, so every half an hour a new band. I can only vouch for the music from 8 to 8:30. Haha
How exciting to help Sara move and see her so nicely settled in her new place – as a Mama, I can understand how that is comforting. I am sad to read of your loss; your mention of your mum-in-law's 'legacy' seems to indicate a life very well-lived, with many who benefited. Hoping the rest of your journeying is safe and look forward to seeing that fashion parade on Second Avenue :).
