Wednesday morning, Charlie and I visited Tanyard Creek Park. I’d heard the playground was nice and there’s a railway trestle bridge; both sounded great for exploring … and photos. The weather wasn’t great; it rained most of Tuesday and Tuesday night and was still drizzling Wednesday morning. But it worked out fine; we had the wet playground to ourselves.
The playground features two play areas – one for big kids

and spinning dials.
Then back to the small side. He asked for the towel.
We played for about an hour and then spent some time walking around. We spied birds, squirrels and chipmunks. Looked at the creek. and then found a spider web. (and thankfully no spider.)
We didn’t find the railway trestle … another time I guess.
The sun finally came out when we headed back to the car. and then to lunch. Charlie asked for eggs, so we went to West Egg Café. Katie says this is one of Charlie’s favorite places; I can see why! There was plenty of activity to keep him occupied while we waited for our food. And the food was plentiful and delicious. (no photos of my fried green tomatoes with pimiento cheese – but yummmmm…)

Fantastic photos! And, I hope that Charlie settles in quickly at his new school!
What a life! I'd like to go to those playgrounds! 🙂 And ice cream sounds like a fabulous idea!
Looks like a fabulous park! And you still have parts to explore. So many former "undesirable" places are being re-developed and renovated. It's such fun to discover them. Have a fabulous weekend!
Nice playground — so bright and inviting! And to have it all to yourselves??? BONUS! 🙂 I'll bet Charlie will love the Montessori program. Kids usually just thrive with that kind of educational start. 🙂 Happy weekend.
Nothing like a morning at the park and lunch out!!
Yay! Charlie! Thanks for sharing your fun time at the park…hope Charlie enjoys his new school. Sam soon?Cheers~
Charlie stays busy and always has a smile on his face. It's so fun to see him playing and doing. Charlie's going to have a fun day next week of a new school capped off with ice cream and Marmie!
Charlie looks like he had such a fun time at the playground! How fun to find new places to go to with him!
Sometimes you just have to ignore the weather and have fun. And judging by the expressions on Charlie's face it looks like lots of fun was had. My son attended Montessori camps during the summer as a little boy and enjoyed them. Hope Charlie settles in well. : )
Looks like a very fun day indeed. West Egg is one of my favorites-lots of fun places on "that" side of town.
he is at that perfect age where busy is the thing and learning. I love how over time bad places are good places. In pittsburgh there was an area that was a "no go" area and now it is hip! Go figure!
