Holly and I arrived safely home this afternoon; we did not travel the newly-reopened I-85, but the traffic on the other highways seemed to be responding favorably to having that thoroughfare back in business!
I have a few more stories to tell about the rest of our time in Florida, but for today, how about a quick re-cap of Mother’s Day. At this point in my life, it is especially dear to me that I got to spend the day with my mom. We finished up the last to-do on her List (2016 taxes!) yesterday morning and celebrated that accomplishment with lunch out at one of our favorite places. Of course we had to “cheers”
and then I’m so glad I remembered to ask the hostess to take our photo!
The only downside to being in Florida yesterday was that I did not get to see my favorite little guys in person. Katie made it a little better – she FaceTimed twice – first with Sam
and then with Charlie.
We spent the rest of the afternoon watching sports (bowling, baseball and golf ) and working the Sunday crossword (which we finished). Along the way, I also managed to finish all of Clue #4 on Thistle Rambles! One of Mother’s friends joined us for happy hour and the day ended with more Yahtzee – and Mother’s third time rolling a Yahtzee of ones!
I lost track of how many Yahtzee she rolled overall. We played every night I was there – maybe 20 games total? and I’m guessing she had about that many Yahtzees!! (Happy Mother’s Day, right?!)
It was a wonderful day. Happy (belated) Mother’s Day to each of you!
This sounds like a lovely Mother's Day for all the mothers involved (made even better with those very full wine glasses)! You might want to consider replacing those dice next time you play Yahtzee with your mother. 🙂
Sounds like a lovely visit. I should find a Yahtzee game to play with my dad although adding up the numbers would probably be tough.
What a nice way to spend Mother's Day!
This sounds like such a nice time! I envy you still having your mom around to spend time with her.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the day with your mom! (And, yeah . . . I think it might be time to switch out those dice!) XO
What a nice visit. I played many a Yahtzee game with my mom in my teens. Good memories! 🙂
Happy Mother's Day! Indeed it was and I a) love Sam and his toes; b)Charlie looking a tad forlorn -missing Marmie?; c) pic of you and your Mom @ lunch; and d) story of Mom and her Yahtzee wins. Go Mom Go.Welcome Home and glad you had a great week.Cheers~
Loved the photo of you and your Mom. So glad you could be with her on Mother's Day. Thanks for sharing with usGlad you are safely home.
Sounds great! I'm sure you are glad to be home and next year on Mother's Day you can all be together!
I love YAHTZEE!! It's been ages since I've played. What a lovely Mother's Day visit with your mom. xoxo
Your visit with your mother sounds lovely. We played Yahtzee so often as kids and I don't think I've ever seen that many Yahtzee in my life! Your mom is lucky!
Cherishing these days. I was glad I didn't have to share Mother's Day this year making it extra special. Looking forward to our "visit" next week. Hopefully dinners will be early enough that I won't need so much help with games!
Your visit with your mom sounds lovely! And, Yahtzee! There is a throwback to my past!
happy Mother's day and how nice to be with your mom. I loved playing Yahtzee as a kid and would have trouble finding someone to play with me.. You look wonderful!
