Have y’all used the new Bundle feature in Ravelry? I love it! I started a New Favorites to help me keep up with all the projects I want to knit, including two (more – the blue blanket still has a l o n g way to go!) for the baby.

That Star Blanket is in the same book that the blue blanket is. I’m thinking about knitting it in Berroco Vintage (the pattern calls for a DK weight yarn) so it ends up a little bigger (and it comes in a beautiful gray that I know Katie loves).
And I want to knit a bear. I don’t think I’ve ever knit a toy before, but I’ve helped a few of my students with Ysolda’s patterns; that’s her bear Otto on the right. I recall it being a bit fiddle-y to get all the pieces seamlessly attached (in other words, we picked up lots of stitches) in the right spots and the face took a couple of tries. I found Vera this morning and based on the project gallery photos and comments, I think it’s a winner. If any of y’all have knit bears, do share! (or even if you haven’t, I’d still love to know your thoughts on good bear patterns!)
Those are all so cute!
I did a monkey from Susan B Anderson's book with self striping sock yarn it was smallish but I loved how the self striping worked. The giraffes were fun too, would like to do the rabbit and other toys [at some point!]
I've knit more than a few toys. Very cute — but pretty much always futzy. (The good ones, at least.) I think Vera is a darling bear! I'd knit that if I had a grandchild on the way, for sure.
I've only knit one bear pattern and I chose it because it didn't have six pieces to fussily sew together: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/harry-bear It's written for fuzzy Chinchilla (discontinued) but maybe you could find another appropriate yarn. It's cute, and only two pieces!
Baby Bobbi Bear by Blue Sky Alpacas is a cute bear pattern. I also love all of Susan Anderson's toy patterns. I love that Star Blanket pattern as well! Can't wait to see what you make!
I saw that you had favorited that Vera bear on Ravelry and that gal spoke to me when I saw her! We've got a mother and a couple of cubs roaming the neighborhood in Gardner right now. I think I'll tell them she should be called Vera!
Vera is very cute. You have so many great patterns to chose from and I know you're going to have a whole lot of fun knitting for the grandbaby!
I'm afraid I don't have any pattern suggestions, but Vera is adorable. I will look forward to seeing which one you choose. : )
Lucky baby boy! Wish I could offer some advice Looking fwd to the finished projects…Cheers~
