lunch at Del Posto |
This is from June, 2010. The last two of us (Sara and me) photo from our last trip to NYC.
We visited first in April 2008. Sara was a sophomore in high school, considering NYU. We had a really encouraging tour, but then we went to breakfast one day and it snowed. in April*. She never even applied.
We visited again in April 2009. Just for fun. And with no idea that I’d be back in June and July to help Katie move there for a year**. Sara and I visited again that Christmas and then one last time over Memorial Day 2010, just after she graduated high school.
Fast forward a few years (yikes, quite a few!) and we’re planning another early April trip. Sara texted me last week about joining her for a spur-of-the-moment-I-really-need-a-break-from-work trip and I jumped at the chance.
We’ll be there April 6-9. Needless to say, I’m excited!
*and isn’t it ironic that she now lives in Madison, Wisconsin. where a trip to NYC in early April is likely going to be a breath of warmer air!
**Katie’s first job after college was with NBC/Universal. She spent a year in New York and then two years in Los Angeles before (happily, finally) moving back to Atlanta to get married…and have a family.
I'm glad Katie and her family are "back home" and not in NYC or LA, and I'm really glad you and Sara get to enjoy a fun NYC trip together! It's always lovely to have something that wonderful to look forward to.Ryan applied to Montana State and when we went to visit Bozeman in April 2009 they got 18" of snow. They also made a point of telling him that they get snow every month of the year; yes, even in July and August.
That Del Posto lunch was AMAZING. I remember it well.
That's a great photo! IShots like this have so much character. Hoping you have a happy and snow-free weekend.
Ooooh, how fun! I hope you can fit in a visit to the Tenement Museum.
What a fun photo of the two of you! And what fun that you'll have a little get-away adventure together next month. XO
Love the photo of you two in the window. You'll have a fantastic time in NYC and I hope the weather is to your liking.
I'm excited for your NY trip! Will you be staying in lower Manhattan?
I think a mother – daughter trip sounds wonderful! I'm excited for you! Hopefully, you won't run into any snow – at the rate we are going you may run into a heat wave. 🙂 No matter the weather though, I'm sure you will have a great time together.
Oh New York! What's not to love?!
Hard to believe that "our girls" have completed college and are now working, grown-up young women. Where did th time go?Hooray for your impending trip with Sara and so glad Katie ret'd to Atlanta and now there is Charlie!!!Cheers~
Love that photo!! We are in for some snow this week (tonight! tomorrow!) and I'm afraid it's going to be even worse to the south… sorry Sara!!
