….another Tale from the Yellow Table, but not the “Watercolor Wednesday” one I’d planned with a table full of projects, maybe a pile of yarn, or a cake! Those things really didn’t happen during class today. There were plenty of projects and a few issues (I was busy!), but nothing blog-worthy.
Until about 45 minutes after class ended, when Sally (a fellow teacher) walked in. wearing this beautiful scarf.
She knit it with Kidsilk Haze leftovers (about seven colors) – 80-ish stitches in the round (the scarf is actually a flat tube) on a size 6 needle, randomly striped. I was smitten. pretty much Love at First Sight.
When I remembered the Kidsilk Haze project I had hibernating*, it quickly jumped to the frog pond and this new scarf moved up in my queue to the next “epic stockinette” spot**.
The girls were all too happy to help me choose a few new colors. I think I might need one more … suggestions welcome (seriously!)
|my “original” colors are the 2nd and 3rd in from the top right – dark and light purple|
I’m pretty sure all you knitters have succumbed to Love at First Sight (at least once!) What was the last project that made you want to drop everything, buy yarn and cast on?
*yep, here it was…just before I tossed that tiny bit of knitting in the trash and reclaimed the five balls of dark purple and three-ish balls of light purple for the new scarf. (also yay! for finding – and reclaiming – my 16″ size 7 needle and a very pretty marker!)
**my Stole 2.0 is this close to being done – that little ball to knit (maybe 10 rows?) and then a border (in cream) around the whole piece – 5 rows of garter. It might even happen this weekend!
