…today’s topic is blueberries, no doubt inspired by Carole’s latest CSA haul (I LOVE that she’s on Instagram. finally!) I was really excited to share recipes and other such enthusiasm when I planned this post last night.
Beginning with breakfast: greek yogurt topped with (frozen) blueberries, raspberries and blackberries and a few walnuts. With a side of Go Set a Watchman. while Charlie napped.
and my plan fell apart after that. I finished the book and it left me in a real funk. More to come on that front, maybe, but for now, I’m just feeling old (yet young because I wasn’t even born when Harper Lee wrote those words) and sad (the thoughts and events she portrays took place sixty years ago, but they’re still part of “my South”…my dad grew up in a small Alabama town not too far from Maycomb).
So I’m going to cut this short and share links to my three favorite blueberry recipes. I spent a good bit of time last night in denial that I’d never even posted a photo of the cake or the muffins. But trust me – they’re wonderful. and easy.
1. a salad
2. a coffee cake
3. muffins (I did add a 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon along with the dry ingredients)
Of course today was a Charlie day and he is ALL ABOUT the food right now. Katie said he won’t even let her (or his dad) spoon feed him any more. I was able to feed him some yogurt for breakfast, but otherwise it was him – fingers and all!

I talked about “pouches” at our prayer shawl meeting today and the ladies had no idea…so I figured it would be worthwhile to share here.

Blueberries are one of my favorite summertime treats. I’m looking forward to all the ways y’all like to prepare them!
I’m also looking forward to talking about the book. I’ve been in a self-imposed media-blackout these past two weeks….now that I’ve read the book I’m ready to join the conversation. I hope!

That Ansel Adams connection is just the coolest thing ever. I can't wait to share it with Dan! The book…I'm going to listen to all of you and then make my decision. Charlie…well hello handsome!!
Fine motor skills are important and Charlie knows that feeding himself is the best way to develop them! I'm clueless about pouches so glad for the photo of this "new-fangled" way to eat applesauce. I've resisted GSaW after a dear reading friend told me that she wished she had never read it, and I will be very interested in your take on it.
I haven't bought GSAW yet, and will be interested to hear your thoughts … Pouches weren't around when mine were little but I can see how useful they are! Your breakfast is very similar to mine :).
You must share your thoughts on the book soon. Your few words here have me feeling good about my decision to not read it (due to its provenance more than anything). Charlie is so cute and he's going to be a independent handful from now on!

I would have loved it if these were around when the boys were little. I do the cinnamon thing with my muffins too LOOOOVVVE cinnamon! GSaW didn't make a stop on my route-look forward to hearing your take.
I've decided not to read GSAW, but am curious to hear your thoughts after reading it. Your pictures of Charlie are so cute!

Wow! GSAW has been languishing – along with a pile of other unreads – and I've been putting off reading it ever since I heard a few media comments the day of and after its release. Guess I'll get around tuit before the summer's over…but I'm in no rush, obviously.Charlie, as always is just a bundle of personality and cuteness…and so independent. Lovin' watching him grow into his awesome little self.Cheers~
