Ten on Tuesday | An Extra Hour.

…we’re three days into Daylight Savings Time so I’m sure y’all have heard plenty about the “extra hour of daylight”. Today, Carole’s asked us to write about what we’ll do with that extra hour. Sadly, for me, that “extra hour” now means daylight doesn’t begin until nearly 8am (that photo above is my morning journaling time – last week I almost didn’t need the lamp). I wonder if there will come a time I’ll be a fan of losing an hour of morning light so I can have it in the evening? Yeah, not this year!So I’m doing this one my way – and making a list of ten things I’d be doing with a REAL extra hour in my day:1. Read another chapter in Round House.2. Knit.3. Fold and put away all the laundry the day it’s done.4. Walk outside in the evening.5. Write letters (and mail them.)6. Make something for dinner besides Sunday night’s leftovers.7. Research completed projects on Ravelry to plan a future newsletter feature.8. Spend more time with my journal. and/or my blog :-)9. Take a nap.10. Enjoy a glass of wine on the porch.I actually did many of those things these past three days. There is something energizing about daylight at 7pm…but it’s not quite making up for the super-dark mornings. yet.Have you enjoyied any of these “extra hour” pleasures this week? I hadn't seriously considered what losing an hour of morning light would mean to a productive morning person like you đŸ˜¦ I think you'll be regaining it in another month or so, and hopefully you'll get to enjoy some of your "extra hour in a day" pleasures before then. I'm always glad to see cute Charlie Day photos!

  2. I'm a morning person but I don't mind when it's dark in the morning like I do when it's dark in the evening. Either way the days are getting longer. Hooray!

  3. I miss that hour of morning light too. I belong to a gym at our local university,it is very affordable, but one has to be willing to workout between 5:30-7am. For the last couple of weeks, it was light when I left the gym to go home, now it is back to being dark both ways. I keep reminding myself that we'll have that morning light back soon!

  4. Since I'm not as early a riser as you, the morning darkness doesn't really bother me that much. BUT I LOVE the light in the late afternoon/evening. In the winter, my day feels so short because I really won't head out to run any errands after — say 4:00p because I don't like returning home in the cold and dark. I seem to get so much more done outside of the house after the time change. Although I don't love losing the hour initially. I like your journal pic and of course, the picture of Charlie!

  5. Losing the morning light is the hardest part of the time change, but it quickly returns within a couple of weeks. I saw a wonderful sunrise this morning I would otherwise wouldn't have. I love the extra hour at the end of the day and it's worth the cost. Love the cute Charlie smiles!

  6. I really don't like losing the morning light, either! But, you're so right, extra light in the evening is very energizing. I can hardly wait to come out of yoga tonight . . . in the LIGHT. Always a sure sign of spring for me . . . light AFTER yoga! (That Charlie is just so sweet.)

  7. Although I'm totally a morning person, I like being able to be outside in the evenings when the time changes-on the deck, glass of wine and knitting. Especially after being inside all day at work. I like the morning darkness cause it feels more like morning-peaceful and quiet.

  8. Ahhh, he's growing so fast … Our daylight time doesn't shift for another fortnight, so we still have dark evenings and lighter mornings at present. I'm not relishing waking up at 6.30 a.m. (which I like) and discovering it's 7.30 a.m! I like your list … I'd be sending more time with a journal and blog too.

  9. Dare I say I so love the extra hour at night I'm willing to overlook the darker mornings … I just sit with a coffee and think for a bit. I love being able to stay out longer at the end of the day – whether it's a day spent in town or just out for a walk.

  10. We had DST when I was a child, long before Congress passed legislation and I liked it then. Not so much now as an adult; takes me a while to adjust. Not too sure I'm using the add'l time at all…as always, love Charlie's pics. He is indeed active and happy!Cheers~
